A Majestic Experience

You arrive; your trip from Zürich, Milano or the Swiss capital city of Berne was short. Everything is as always around here: on time. Your “Concierge des Alpes” has your apartment key ready for you, welcomes you by name, takes your luggage and escorts you to your home away from home.

You’ve been travelling lightly, you don’t really need to bring much, it’s all here: the Grand Regina belongs to you. And with that comes the kind of service that you know from the best of houses – just a bit more personal. Your skis are waxed, your ski pass is prepared, and your boots are warm and dry.

As a special touch to ease you into the vacation feeling, awaiting you on the terrace is a beautifully presented repast: An Älpler-Plättli – a platter with cheeses from your own alp comprised of one year-old goat cheese and two year-old Hobel-Cheese produced on the Bachalp, the alpine meadow to which you hiked last year, the alp that belongs to you. Tomatoes, still sun warmed, from your own garden. A carafe of spring water from your wellspring. Even the bread from your homegrown grain. True value within your grasp. You’ve arrived. Welcome home.

  • Sustainability

Nature and time define the surroundings around Grindelwald. The locals have learned to live in harmony with nature and to preserve the environment in the way it was naturally formed thousands of years ago. They have come to understand that not intervening with nature, but rather working with it is key to sustainable adaptation. And that is why you will find the Alps surrounding your new home marvelously unexploited. Still pristine today, like long ago.
  • Tradition

Tradition is ever-present in Grindelwald. A big word with a basic principle: It is present in the hospitality, established crafts, alpine agriculture, and the local customs of ‘Chästeilet’, ‘Treichlete’ and the annual hay sledge races. Tradition forms an inherent part of the life and cultural landscape in this region.
  • Traditional Values

Take a moment to savor the breathtaking views from the intermediate stations at Eismeer and Eigernordwand.

  • The Iconic Eiger

    The Iconic Eiger
The sensational and unique Eiger North Face has been the setting for countless adventures and tragedies. For decades more adventurers, poets and explorers than one can count have been fatally attracted by it. Only in 1936, after a number of failed attempts, a team of four finally succeeded with the first ascent of the North Face. The “Mordwand” (murderous wall), as the locals respectfully dubbed the North Face, is synonymous for the features and characteristics of the population in the area: strong, obstinate, authentic, tenacious and in touch with nature.
The Eiger’s imposing stone face has served as a backdrop in numerous national and international film and television projects, and on occasion could even be considered the principal performer. Once you have laid eyes on the Eiger North Face you will never forget this magnificent view.

Alpine Resort Grand Regina

New luxury in the Grand Old Style

Since 120 years the Grand Old Queen sat enthroned above the town and valley of Grindelwald. Though she still carries her glamorous past with pride, it is time for a new beginning for the Grand Regina: Between 2014 and 2016 the Art Nouveau landmark building will experience a gentle but thorough restoration. The Grand Hotel will be restored in accordance with the historic plans to its old glory.

Your New Home

Starting January 2015, all 54 apartments will go up for sale. They offer between 70 and 180 sq.metres of high quality living space. Designed to offer between 2 and 6 rooms, they come in three different decorative styles – the choice is yours. Whether traditional, alpine or modern, the “Alpine Resort Grand Regina” is bound to please – and built to last.

Additional features such as the private “Owner’s Cabinet”, the dividable “2-Suite Apartment” or apartments with a “Private Spa Area” allow its future owner unexpected room to dream during the decision making process.

The legally mandated sell & lease back of the apartments via the resort’s hotel management offers owners a convenient source of income. And it allows that also non-Swiss-citizens can acquire property ownership at the Alpine Resort Grand Regina.
